Celebrating almost six decades of Northern Soul.
Motown and Soul artists have created some of the most influential music. Inspired arrangements and witty, often biting, lyrics combine to make this some of the most distinctive and obscure music to ever grace the turntables and dance floors of the north of England.
Most of these hits were only ever recorded hoping to feature on Berry Gordy’s Motown label, many never did, and sadly the original artists never had the chance to perform the tracks live..
SBS gives you the opportunity to hear these tracks performed perfectly as they would have sounded if played live by the original artists.
